Project overview
Hunter Water's Belmont Desalination Plant will provide the Lower Hunter with a permanent, rainfall-independent source of drinking water. The 30-megalitre-per-day seawater reverse-osmosis plant includes an ocean intake and transfer pipeline, onshore pumping and treatment infrastructure, residuals discharge and connections to the existing water network. John Holland is the principal design and construction contractor.
Flomar is working with Ausconnex on the Phase 2 private 11kV connection package, building the underground route and installing the cables between the new high-voltage connection infrastructure and the plant's main switchboards.
What Flomar self-performs
- Trial holes, non-destructive excavation and service proving ahead of the cable route
- Supply and installation of underground conduits and pits, including mandrel proving
- Installation and testing of new 11kV underground mains and earth cables
- Hardstand cutting and removal for the route works
- Trench backfill and compaction to Ausgrid NS130
- Temporary surface restoration, traffic management and work-as-executed survey pickups
Key quantities
- Phase 2 private 11kV connection
- Underground conduits and pits
- 11kV cable installation and testing
- NDD and service proving
